Vierge Vampur

In the past few months a few pictures from an up-and-coming Japanese indie Lolita brand, Vierge Vampur, have been making the rounds on Tumblr. Like the hundreds of other people who have reblogged these pictures, I'm completely blown away by these pieces! Take a look at what I'm talking about:

Not only are the dresses fresh and innovative, but the styling of the photoshoots is phenomenally creative! Unfortunately, one of the dresses I am most fond of, the one featuring the legs along the bottom, doesn't seem to have a worn photo to go with it.

What I, and many of the other people who are completely loving these designs, am very impressed with is the level of detail these pieces have, as well as the quirky designs. The cutlery dress features tiny spoon charms on the cuffs, complete with tiny bows, and on second glance the red and white striped dress is screen printed all over with various Victorian illustrations such as swallows, teeth, and scissors. To me these dresses are a mix of the decadence of Juliette et Justine, the cuteness of the Angelic Pretty releases that are reminiscent of old school designs, as well as the quirkiness of Otome brands such as Jane Marple or Emily Temple Cute.

One of the things I was most impressed with was the fact that these dresses didn't rely on the "traditional" custom border prints that many brands use now. These, instead, are very creatively screen printed, which is a process I've always loved more than printed fabric because I feel that it often adds an interest to the fabric, despite the fact that it relies on just the one color of ink! Especially when paired with velvet or an already patterned fabric!

Price wise, they are pretty typical of most Japanese Lolita brands, as their dresses tend to be between $250 to $300, thanks to the current high rate of the Japanese Yen and low rate of the US Dollar. Thanks to a heads up over on Twitter, I was just told that if you email them, they can do custom sizes for you!

So what do you think of this indie brand's designs? Creative and unique, or a little too out there for you?

You can find Vierge Vampur a number of places online:

  1. These are so- well I'd like to say cute, but their extremely quirky and playful as well.XD That silverware print looks familiar; I think an otome brans had a similar print? Actually all the quirky designs vaguely remind me of Kikirara Shoten :p I do like the multiple legs one too; it's just too wierd not to love. XD

    1. I know there are a few brands that have used cutlery in their prints! It's not a common theme, but it is one that has popped up in Otome, and even Lolita, every now and then throughout the years!

  2. The one with the legs is just awesome!
I also like the spoon and fork dress but I hate velvet so I would never wear it.

The ideas are so creative! That they do custom sizes is definetly also really great.

  3. I was wondering where that spoon and fork dress was from. It's definitely nice to see something a little different!

  4. I am all about anything with cutlery prints, and all about OPs with peter pan collars. When I have the money I might have to snatch this up....

  6. I adore the designs! The legs one is my favorite too, haha, but throughout the years what I've learned about myself is that I should get myself clothes in black, so I'll be waiting for any new releases from this creative indie brand!

  7. I really like the blue one with spoons on it. It makes me want to make a giant teacup hat and go ahead and design an over-the-top classic lolita look just for kicks.

    1. A tea cup hat would be the perfect hat to wear with that spoon dress!

  9. Love the dresses, and that's a very unique photoshoot! Can't realistically see myself spending $200-300 on a dress though, especially when I can't wear it out anywhere!

  10. I'm absolutely in love with these! Especially the Red and Black/White dresses. I'm a Lolita Clown, and my chosen colors are red, black and white, so these are perfect for my look! I'm hoping they ship to the US.

    1. I am definitely a fan of the clownish/circus look with Lolita (I love ruffs! If I had a ruff, I would definitely do some sort of circus clown Lolita outfit!) and I can easily see the red striped dress going perfectly for a circus inspired coord!

  12. CUSTOM SIZING??!? If that is true they are AWESOME. I have already planned what new lolita stuff to buy when I get my next salary, but I might have to reconsider...

  13. OMG! These are stunning! They remind me of Jan Svankmajer's work for some reason; probably the Alice meets eating utensils. I really hope they ship to the US...

  14. These look great. ^_^ I'm excited to see what else they come up with. I do very much like the creepy circus look. I think they'll do well for themselves.

  15. Vierge Vampur is a really cool brand, I must ask a friend to help me writing a mail to know if they can do a skirt version of their Cutlery OP!

And actually there is a worn picture of the Alice legs, I found it on the blog of friend who found it on Tumblr! Here is the link: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qQEEzmz18x8/UFECy1LjGfI/AAAAAAAABL0/9whpNS6XtU8/s1600/tumblr_m7egxdQaZ11rt0g8wo1_500.gif

  16. I love the last dress in the "fallen down the stairs" (or was she pushed?) photo, and the shoes, too! The heels on the shoes are certainly something different.
