The dress cut was cute, kind of retro and classically Lolita with nothing really wacky about it. And I was intrigued by the silhouettes along the bottom. Meta doesn't show pictures of their print on their upcoming dress sketches, so I had high hopes for what this might mean. Embroidery perhaps? Metallic screen printing? I had visions of Meta's answer to Angelic Pretty's Puppet Circus dancing in my head, it would be soft blue velvet (who cares if summer is right around the corner!) with delicate silver embroidery around the bottom. Or so I would have let my self day dream about, if I knew Meta didn't always like to throw a curveball in that space full of hopes and dreams between sketch and actual dress. Thank goodness I didn't get my hopes up, because a few days later their English blog showcased this dress.
Really Meta? black and white stripes over a black silhouette? Why do you do this to us? You can't even see what's going on in that print. A black design printed on black stripes is just a bad idea. At least, the pink and blue versions are a little bit better.
Totally agree. This dress makes me very sad. But it does make me want to do screenprinting....
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Such a promising print, I really wish they hadn't printed on the stripes.
ReplyDeleteI like the dresses and the print, but you are right O_o you can not see the draw in the black version,, i think the pink is the best, so lovely
ReplyDeleteHey this is my blog: http://lolitasociety-princess.blogspot.com/2010/04/sex-and-lolita-lolita-y-el-sexo.html
Take care ;)
I actually kind of like the black on black :x
ReplyDeleteahh I love the blue print
ReplyDeletesorry to hear ur disppointed :(
The way you imagined it sounds so lovely! I like the pink version though.
ReplyDeleteJust FYI. The picture that you are using is called a Technical Flat or just a Flat. A Flat is a drawing and measurements/details that fashion houses and designers use to depict an article of clothing as realisticly as possible. They are made to give the pattern makers, sample makers, and everyone else the exact look of the item so they know exactly what they are making. These days most Flats are made using Adobe Illustrator. I just thought I would drop a little fun fashion Design knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI really do like the blue one. I've love the black if they managed to do something different with the print.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that! I always wondered what they were called XD I knew they had to have a proper name, I just wasn't sure what it was.
ReplyDeleteHoly Shit, it can't me real! -.-'
ReplyDeleteSame reaction as me. I can't even understand who can ever come up with the idea with stripes. But the blue one is somewhat cute.
ReplyDeleteArgh, I was so looking forward to this print and they screwed up so badly (ToT) The pink version is really the best but still...not what I was waiting for
ReplyDeleteThe gray-ish blue version is cute, but the black and white version is too harsh. I feel like the stripes are eating the print. Poor print! XD
ReplyDeleteI actually rather like it, but I'm partial to vertical stripes. If the print on the black & white version were easier to see I would buy it in a heartbeat. The pink version is the best IMO. Perhaps because your expectations were AP-level, anycase I like the sweet casual look of this print XD seems to work most in the JSK version rather than the dress and skirt version tho
ReplyDeleteActually, I LOVE this! Especially in blue, it's so lovely... if I had my way the dress would be made without any print, and just vertical stripes and that lovely cut. (I don't care much for prints.) so cute!
